Author Guidelines

1. Scope and Editorial Policy

The Journal of Sustainable Smart Systems in Education & Environment (JSSSEE) publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research that advances knowledge in smart education, environmental sustainability, digital transformation, and intelligent systems.
Manuscripts must present original work that has not been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.

All submissions are initially screened by the editorial team for relevance, clarity, and compliance with the journal's scope and submission requirements. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening undergo double-blind peer review by two independent reviewers. Full details are available in the JSSSEE Peer Review Process.

2. Ethical and Legal Responsibilities

• Authors must ensure that their work complies with research ethics and all relevant national or institutional regulations.
• Research involving human participants, identifiable personal data, or animals must receive appropriate ethical approval where required.
• Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce figures, tables, or data from other sources.
• All listed authors must have made a substantial contribution and agree to the final version of the manuscript.

3. Manuscript Preparation

3.1 Template and Format
Authors must use the official JSSSEE Article Template (available in both LaTeX  and  Word).

• Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing
• Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
• APA 7th Edition citation and reference style
• Footer text (except on title page):
  “Journal of Sustainable Smart Systems in Education & Environment (JSSSEE), e-ISSN: 2979-143X”

3.2 Manuscript Structure
Submissions should follow this order:

1. Title of the Article – concise, specific, and descriptive
2. Authors and Affiliations – include ORCID IDs if available
3. Corresponding Author – name, institution, and email
4. Abstract – 200–250 words summarizing background, purpose, methods, key findings, and conclusions
5. Keywords – 4–6 keywords in alphabetical order
6. Main Sections – should be organized according to the article type and research design. Original research articles typically include Introduction, Literature Review or Related Work, Methodology, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.
7. Acknowledgements
8. Funding Statement
9. Conflict of Interest Declaration
10. References (APA 7th Edition)

3.3 Figures, Tables, and Equations

• All figures and tables must be numbered consecutively and cited in the text (e.g., see Figure 1 or Table 2).
• Figure and table captions should use bold + italic labels followed by sentence-case titles, centered under the object.
• Equations must be created in an editable mathematical format, numbered sequentially in parentheses, and referenced in the text (e.g., as shown in Equation (3)).
• Figures and other raster images should be high resolution (≥ 300 dpi). Tables should remain editable whenever possible.

3.4 References
Citations and reference lists must follow the APA 7th Edition style.

Procedure

1. Article submission: Authors submit the manuscript through the JSSSEE online submission system.
2. Initial Editorial Screening: The manuscript is screened for scope, basic quality, and compliance with the journal's submission requirements. This stage normally takes around two weeks.
3. Peer Review: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening undergo double-blind peer review by two independent reviewers. The review process normally takes around six weeks.
4. Editorial Decision and Revision: Based on the reviewers' reports, the manuscript may be accepted, returned for minor or major revision, or rejected. Revised manuscripts should be submitted with responses to the reviewers' comments.
5. Final Version: If the manuscript is accepted, the corresponding author will be asked to submit the final version.
6. Proofing: A page proof will be sent to the corresponding author for final checking before publication.
7. Publication: After the final version and proof corrections are approved, the article will be scheduled for publication.

All correspondence is conducted with the corresponding author. The corresponding author should provide an active institutional email address, regularly check their inbox and spam folder, and ensure that the email address is consistent between the manuscript and the article metadata.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

The journal does not charge any Article Processing Charges (APC). Submission, peer review, and publication are completely free of charge for authors.
